A report on the new visa exemption procedures in certain localities and certain periods in the People's Republic of China was published on 01 March in the Portuguese Communities Portal (DGACCP / SEC), namely:
Visa exemption in Hainan Province for stays of up to 30 days;
Visa exemption for travel or business trips for stays of up to 144 hours:
i) The visa exemption for tourist or business travel for stays of up to 144 hours is in force in the municipalities of Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin and in the provinces of Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Liaoning. This scheme only covers travel or business trips for stays up to a maximum of 144 hours (i.e. 6 days),
Visa exemption for stays up to 72 Hours
(i) In the cases mentioned above, travelers wishing to benefit from the visa-free stay regime for up to 72 hours in the municipalities of Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing and in Guangdong, Kunming, Yunnan Province, Chengdu Sichuan Province), Dalian and Shenyang (Liaoning Province) and Guilin (Guangxi Province) must fulfill certain conditions, namely, to be in possession of a valid visa for a third country and to have the corresponding plane ticket with a marked place and date of within 72 hours.
It should be noted that, under this exemption scheme, travelers are not allowed to move to other places in the Chinese territory. It is suggested that the Chinese Embassy in Lisbon be consulted for further clarification if necessary.
